Trump files to delay ‘Apprentice’ contestant’s defamation lawsuit

President Trump’s legal team is seeking to delay a defamation lawsuit raised against the president by former “Apprentice” contestant Summer Zervos.

Trump’s lawyers filed a notice Monday to freeze the suit in New York’s State Court of Appeals. At the same time, a lower court is considering Trump’s request to dismiss the lawsuit outright.

Mariann Wang, Zervos’ lawyer, said Tuesday that Trump’s previous filings for delay of the suit have been denied, “and for good reason,” according to the AP.

On May 17, an intermediate state appeals court reportedly refused to pause the lawsuit.

Zervos was a contestant on “The Apprentice” in 2006. She claimed Trump made unwelcome advances toward her in 2007 after she went to him for career advice.

Trump said the claims were “100 percent fabricated.”
